What does it mean to “Remember your Creator”? Have we fulfilled the command to remember by thinking about God for a few moments in a day, by saying a little prayer and by reading the Bible at meal times? “Remembering your Creator” is to live in the presence of the LORD at all times. It's committing your whole life to the Lord's service. Adoration, veneration, and devotion for the Lord permeates and seasons every thought, word and deed. Remembering your Creator is realizing that He who has created you in such a wonderful way calls you to live as His special people. You remember your Creator by loving and respecting Him as intensely and deeply as possible; by bringing to mind and meditating on what He has done for you and applying it to your present situation.

Notice the Preacher does not tell us to remember the Creator in the years of our youth but in the days of our youth. The Holy Spirit had it phrased in this manner to impress upon our hearts the need to remember our Creator every day of the year. The Lord does not give covenant youth a day off from His service. Remembering is a non-stop activity. The call to remember is for every young man and woman of faith. What we begin in our youth must be carried forth without slacking off. Rather than wasting precious time and money on what is frivolous and senseless, instead of dreaming about power and getting rich, rather than worrying about finances or thinking about success and rather than spending endless hours on mindless entertainment, we are to remember Him who created us to be in a special relationship with Him.

Remember your Creator in the days of your youth so that you do not reap the bitter fruits of what you sowed in your youth. Think before you act. If you start experimenting with drugs or alcohol when you are young, you may get yourself entangled in a web of abuse, denial and guilt for the rest of your life. If you look at pornographic material when you are young, it may cause you to become addicted to a lifestyle that stands in the way of your Christian service, robs you of much happiness and ruins your relationship with your spouse. Remember your Creator who has put you in a special relationship as His child. Remember Him who showed you how special you are by sending His Son for the forgiveness of your sins and the daily renewal of your life.
