Mark Lowrey

Born on this day in 1945, the Rev. Mark Lowrey, Jr., a constituting ministerial member of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), would go on to serve twenty-eight years with Great Commission Publications, the joint Sunday school ministry of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church and the PCA.

After graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi, where his father served as the editor of the local Hattiesburg newspaper, Mark attended and graduated from Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson. He also married Priscilla Miller at this time.

A veteran of the Vietnam war, Mark then returned to Southern Mississippi with the dream of starting a campus ministry based on the Word of God and committed to the Reformed faith. He named it Reformed University Fellowship. Since its start in 1977, RUF, which was embraced by PCA, has spread to countless universities across the United States.

At GCP, Mark led production and curriculum for over a quarter of a century before accepting the position of Executive Director in 2021.

On December 24, 2024, Mark Lowrey died and went to be with the Lord in glory.
