July 15 Today in OPC History

Eighteenth (1952) General Assembly

2022

On this day in 1952, one of the most beloved and fondly remembered general assemblies in the history of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church concluded. Meeting at the Assembly of God Camp Tabernacle in Denver, Colorado, the commissioners to the Eighteenth General Assembly were encouraged to bring their families along as everyone would be camping outdoors. Having been a cowboy prior to his ordination, Pastor Ben Male of the host church, Park Hill OPC in Denver, was in charge of the extracurricular events for the week. On Saturday the assembly recessed at one o'clock so that hiking, riding and other activities could take place.
