On November 5, 1957, George Haney was ordained to the gospel ministry and installed as pastor of First Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Waterloo, Iowa, in a service conducted by the Presbytery of Wisconsin. Participating in the service were the Rev. Robert K. Churchill of Cedar Grove, Wisconsin, the Rev. George Marston, and the Rev. Lawrence Eyres. The Rev. Ralph Clough, pastor of Mr. Haney's home church in Bridgeton, N. J., also participated.
While serving as First OPC's pastor, Mr. Haney met Grace Vanden Bosch, whom he married on September 7, 1957. During thirty-nine years of marriage they would be blessed with four children, Mary Anne, David, John, and Stephen. Mr. Haney would go on to serve OPC congregations in Bangor, Maine, Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, and Vienna, Virginia. He served two separate terms as general secretary of the Committee on Home Missions and Church Extension. On May 22, 1999, he died and went to be with the Lord in glory.
