Archibald Allison

2021

On Friday, July 23, 1993, Licentiate Archibald A. Allison and his wife, Kristi, arrived with a few belongings packed in their car from Bethel OPC in Carson, North Dakota, to minister at Emmaus OPC, a new mission work in Fort Collins, Colorado, under the oversight of Trinity OPC in Denver. The first worship service was held on the Lord’s Day, July 25. Morning and evening worship services began the next Lord’s Day, August 1, and have continued to the present.

Trinity OPC called Allison to pastor the mission in Fort Collins and Bethel OPC called him to succeed G. I. Williamson as pastor in Carson. He returned to Carson at the end of September where the Presbytery of the Dakotas sustained his trials for ordination as a minister and he accepted the call to serve Emmaus OPC in Fort Collins. They moved from Carson to Fort Collins in October. Presbytery met in Denver on the evening of November 7, 1993, to ordain him as a minister of the gospel and install him as a pastor of Trinity OPC to minister in Fort Collins. His father, Pastor Sam Allison, a minister in the Presbytery of the Dakotas, gave the charge to his son.

His father named him after Archibald Alexander, the first professor at Princeton Theological Seminary, founded in 1812. A few years ago one of the elderly members of Emmaus OPC pointed out that he was born on Charles Spurgeon’s birthday, 132 years later. Around the same time he learned that in God’s amazing providence he was ordained as a minister of the gospel in the same month and on the same day as Archibald Alexander, 199 years later.

At the Eighty-second General Assembly on June 4, 2015 meeting at Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, Mr. Allison was elected moderator.
