Great Commission Publications

2022

On this date in 1964, there was great excitement in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church over the announcement that the Primary Sunday School lessons, "Loving the Savior," written by Penny Pappas, were now available from Great Commission Publications for order and use in the winter quarter.

The Rev. Robley Johnston, general secretary of the Orthodox Presbyterian Committee on Christian Education also announced that the goal for the completion of the complete GCP Sunday School series from Primary lessons to Senior High lessons was 1970. Johnston estimated that the total cost of the program would be over $250,000. He hoped at least $125,000 would be covered by contributions to the OPC. Long-term loans from members of the OPC and other fraternal denominations were being considered to cover the other $125,000, along with revenue from sales.
