Presbytery of Ohio

2019

On October 20, 1952, Calvin Cummings and Henry Phillips were kept quite busy at the Fall meeting of the Presbytery of Ohio at Faith OPC, Harrisville, Pennsylvania. As the only two pastors enrolled in the presbytery at that time, Cummings and Philips divided the duties of the meeting. Cummings served as Moderator and Phillips served as Stated Clerk, and together with ruling elders, D.H. Henry, R. C. Duffy, and Thomas and Arthur Armour, they examined Francis Breisch in theology. Breisch, who had received a call to pastor New Hope OPC, Branchton and Faith OPC, Harrisville, passed his exam.

The presbytery also declared Covenant OPC, Indianapolis dissolved at the request of the Covenant Church session. However, the presbytery did not concur with the request of the congregation of First OPC, Cincinnati to dissolve that work. The Presbytery was hoping that with the proceeds from the sale of the First OPC building that a possible new start up in the suburbs of Cincinnati could take place.
