George W. Knight III

On January 28, 1961, Dr. George William Knight, III was ordained to the gospel ministry as a teacher of the Word of God by the Presbytery of Philadelphia of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. The Saturday afternoon service was presided over by the Rev. Charles H. Ellis, moderator of the Presbytery.

Following the laying on of the hands of the Presbytery and the prayer of ordination, a sermon and charge was delivered by the Rev. John H. Skilton. Dr. Skilton used as his text II Thessalonians 3:13: "Be not weary in well doing."

In addition to serving as the pastor of Immanuel OPC, West Collingswood, New Jersey and serving as a teacher at Matthews OPC, Matthews, North Carolina and Redeemer OPC, Charlotte, North Carolina, Dr. Knight taught at Covenant Seminary, Knox Seminary, and Greenville Presbyterian Seminary. Dr. Knight also served on the OPC Committee on Home Missions and Church Extension from 1963 – 1976 and 1995 – 2013.

On October 11, 2021, George Knight died and went to be with the Lord in glory.
