September 24 Today in OPC History

Over two hundred Orthodox Presbyterians from the churches of the Presbytery of Southern California gathered at Irvine Regional Park on this day in 1988 for their First Annual Regional Orthodox Presbyterian Picnic. Organized by John and Beth Novinger, activities included relay races, sack races, three-legged races, dunking for apples, volleyball, badminton and croquet. The star of the tug-of-war contest was eighty-three-year-old retired pastor Robert Graham. Bayview OPC Pastor Roger Wagner led a hymn sing and Point Loma intern Mark Schroeder delivered the devotional. The picnic closed with a time of prayer and the singing of "Blest Be the Tie That Binds."
