On this date in 1986, the Rev. Louis E. Knowles at the age of 69 years old died and went to be with the Lord. After attending UCLA for his B.A., Mr. Knowles received a Th. B. from Westminster Seminary, a Th.M. from California State University and a M.A. from Long Beach State. Although ordained in 1945 by the Presbytery of the Dakotas and installed as pastor of Calvary OPC, Volga, South Dakota, Mr. Knowles would only serve three years in pastoral ministry. In 1947, he accepted a position as Bible teacher at Valley Christian High School in Bellflower, California where he would remain until his retirement in 1982. Following his retirement, Mr. Knowles served as an assistant to the president of Westminster Seminary in California for two years.
In the Presbytery of Southern California, Mr. Knowles helped fill pulpits for years and served on numerous presbytery committees. He also was faithful in service to his home church, First OPC (now Faith OPC) of Long Beach.
