Pressing Toward the Mark

2022

On this date in 1986. the Committee for the Historian was announcing the availability of its new book, Pressing Toward the Mark: Essays Commemorating Fifty Years of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. Edited by Charles G. Dennison and Richard C. Gamble, the book presented a history of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church from a wide range of viewpoints. The editors stated that the objective in gathering the articles was not for the purpose of presenting a single slant on things. Rather, the book sought to touch the broad strokes of Presbyterianism and to reflect something of its convictions and struggles, especially as they related to the OPC.

Contributors included Victor Atallah, Greg Bahnsen, Edmund Clowney, Leonard Coppes, Clair Davis, Charles Dennison, James Dennison Jr., Lawrence Eyres, Richard Gaffin Jr., John Galbraith, Richard C. Gamble, Thomas Gregory, Allen Guelzo, Michael Hakkenberg, Paul Heidebrecht, Edward Kellogg, David Keister, George Knight III, Peter Lillback, Samuel Logan Jr., George Marsden, Grace Mullen, David Neilands, James Payton Jr., James Phillips, Lendall Smith, Wayne Spear, Lawrence Vail and John Wiers.
