This is Ross Graham reporting the August 21 edition of Home Missions Today. God is using your prayers to develop the ministries of Orthodox Presbyterian mission works around the country.
ANCHORAGE, ALASKA - Pastor David Inks was recently installed by the Presbytery of the Northwest as the pastor of Anchorage Faith OPC. The congregation is searching for a much-needed facility in which to begin morning worship services, and the session is hoping to increase outreach efforts once a full-time meeting place can be found. Pray for this needed facility and for a program for visitor follow-up recently put into action.
GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN - Pastor Rodney Thole is encouraged about fruit he sees among members of the church, including an older woman who is discipling three younger women in a weekly Bible study, and a seminary student in the congregation who is teaching weekly at the Wednesday prayer meeting. Pray with the congregation for increased participation in the Wednesday prayer meeting and at a men's prayer time.
INDEPENDENCE, IOWA - Pastor Casey Reinkeoster reports difficulty in balancing studies for licensure with his ministry duties. A church Sunday school program was begun in June. Casey has had inquiries about his radio program which went off the air recently. He is trying to return to the FM dial through negotiations with the new owners of the radio station. Pray for the Lord's wisdom in the matter of how to balance the expected increased costs of the new program with the other needs of the young congregation. Pray also for Casey's busy schedule.
IONIA, MICHIGAN - Pastor Terry Thole reports a new adult Bible study has started at Living Hope OPC. The church held a Vacation Bible School earlier this summer and Terry is working on canvassing the neighborhood around their building doing VBS outreach follow-up. However, the congregation still hopes to move to a better location in a different part of Ionia. Pray for wisdom in this decision and in the search for a facility. PH
ILLIPSBURG, NEW JERSEY - Pastor Bill Slack reports that the work is going very well at River of Life OPC. The church is going through a time of renewal and their vision for their unique urban ministry is being reviewed. The congregation is enthusiastic about their work and even though they still need a facility of their own, and are confident that the Lord will provide one, they have even painted and renovated the present meeting place and readied it for an expanded ministry in the fall. Pray with them for that meeting place and ministry center.
