D. Clair Davis

2019

On this date in 2008, the Rev. Dr. D. Clair Davis, a ministerial member of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), brought fraternal greetings from the PCA to the Seventy-Fifth General Assembly of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC) meeting at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington. Twenty-two years earlier as a ministerial member of the OPC, Dr. Davis represented the OPC to the Fifteen General Assembly of the PCA after the Fifty-Third General Assembly turned down the invitation to join and be received by the PCA. In addressing the PCA Assembly about the failed merger, Dr. Davis humorously reassured the body that the OPC still loved the PCA and has a wonderful plan for its life. Two years later, Dr. Davis would transfer his membership to the PCA.
