July 22 Today in OPC History

Hackettstown, New Jersey

On the Lord's Day of July 22, 2001, Church of the Covenant in Hackettstown, New Jersey held a Service of Dedication for their newly constructed church building. Received as an organized congregation in the OPC in 1981 with the Rev. Ron Pearce serving as pastor, the members saved up and waited twenty years before being able to build and possess a building of their own. Participating in the service along with Rev. Pearce was the Rev. Al Tricarico, who served as Pastor of evangelism at the church from 1987-91.

The congregation also expressed its thanks to Mr. Ed Lewis, who as building chairman put countless hours into the project. Also recognized was ruling elder emeritus Mr. Walter Ferrier, who hand crafted from oak the communion table, baptismal font, pulpit and lectern for the new building.
