Bell’s Palsy

G. E. Reynolds (1949–    )

“They also made bells of pure gold, and put the bells between the pomegranates all around the hem of the robe, between the pomegranates—a bell and a pomegranate, a bell and a pomegranate around the hem of the robe for ministering, as the LORD had commanded Moses.” (Ex. 39:25–26)

Paul spoke not of this
Particular debilitation,
But of a general
Wasting away, robbing
One of one's faculties,

But not a little nerve damage,
For that is an hors d’oeuvre,
A small taste of the crossing
Into the realm of bells, the bells
Of priestly robes and pomegranates.

Picture the pomegranates, making
My dessert like a garden of the LORD.
Let the bells of grace, pure
Grace, ring and ring with liberty.
This is where my palsy ends.
