This is Richard Gerber reporting the September 21, 2005 edition of Home Missions Today. God is using your prayers to develop the ministries of Orthodox Presbyterian mission works across North America.
SHEDDEN, ONTARIOGrace OPC rejoices over the response to their VBS that was held in August. Thirty-six children attended, including some new faces from the community. Please pray for the follow-up work that is underway. Pastor Dale Collison and wife Jan regularly walk around this small town, which gives them added opportunities to greet people. Recently they met a new family that moved into town. The Collisons continue to have the same difficulties as others that move to another country. You think you have filled out all the forms and then find there is yet another. The Collisons' visitor status expired on Sept 4. They have applied for renewal, but they have not heard anything yet. Please pray that their visitor status in Canada will be renewed. Dale praises God for the spirit of unity within the church. He will begin two new series in September, preaching through I John in the morning and Genesis in the afternoon service. Pray that God would use these messages to grow his church.
OVIEDO, FLORIDAReformation OPC continues to thank God for his sustaining grace. The church is almost two years old now. God has slowly added to their number and enabled the church to grow in its sense of identity as an Orthodox Presbyterian congregation. Reformation praises God for faithful families and elders who have demonstrated their commitment to the church and its ministry. Pastor Eric Watkins asks you to pray that God will add additional officers to the church shortly, and that the congregation will find a more suitable, and perhaps even permanent, location. The congregation is seeking to soon begin a Sunday school ministry.
PRESBYTERY OF OHIODuring the summer the mission works and RHM Larry Oldaker used many opportunities for outreach. Pray that God would bless the follow-up and bring growth to the congregations and mission works of the Presbytery of Ohio. Pray for plans for worship, outreach, and fellowship at Christ Covenant in Indianapolis, Indiana, where Pastor Larry Wilson ministers. Intern Boone Leigh and his family arrived in Huntington, West Virginia, in June to minister at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Boone is busy ministering and making contacts. A weekly Bible study and monthly worship outreach continue in the Cleveland, Ohio, area. Worship services will soon be held weekly. Weekly studies continue in Marysville, Ohio, and Somerset, Pennsylvania. The Lord has sent additional contacts in northern Kentucky. Pray that the Spirit would use the Scriptures to build Christ's church and free many from sin.
RENO, NEVADAWe welcome the congregation of Mount Rose Reformed Presbyterian Church (OPC) and her organizing pastor Andy Preston. Andy comes to Reno from Covenant OPC in Eureka, California. The Presbytery of Northern California installed him on September 9. While they have been waiting on their pastor to arrive, the mission in Reno has been continuing to make positive progress. Both the average Sunday morning attendance and their monthly giving have been growing. Please pray that the Lord would use Pastor Preston's ministry to continue to develop this mission work into a mature congregation.
