ALL THEY THAT HAD ANY SICK WITH DIVERSE DISEASES BROUGHT THEM TO HIM AND HE HEALED THEM

Henry T. Vriesen

Luke 4; John 4

Jesus came again to Cana in Galilee, where he had made the water into wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum. “When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down and heal his son: for he was at the point of death. Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe. The nobleman said unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die. Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him; and he went his way. And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth. Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him. So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.”

And Jesus came to Capernaum, and taught the people on the sabbath day. “And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power. And in the synagogue there was a man, who had a spirit of an unclean devil; and cried out with a loud voice, saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God! And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not. And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What word is this! For with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out. And the fame of him went out into every place of the country round about.”

And Jesus arose out of the synagogue, and entered into the house of Simon Peter. And the mother of his wife was very sick. She had a high fever. And they besought Jesus for her. “And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto him. Now, when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with diverse diseases, brought them unto him: and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them. And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuked them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ. And when it was day, he departed, and went into a desert place; and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them. And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also; for therefore am I sent.”
