I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty (Revelation 1:8).

Revelation 1:1-11:Devotional
Christ, the glorified Christ, is speaking from heaven to John, the beloved disciple; to him who had reclined on the Saviour's bosom, but is now in banishment for the Gospel's sake. What an encouragement the appearance of Christ must have been unto him in the tribulation. And what does Jesus say? "I am Alpha and Omega." The alpha and omega are the first and the last letters of the Greek alphabet. Christ is the Beginning and the Ending, the First and the Last. And from the beginning to the end He is there, always the same, the unchangeable One: "I am, that I am." He was there in the beginning, when the world was created. "All things were made by him." He is also the end. "Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom of God, even the Father." And furthermore, He is the fulfillment of every promise of God given between the beginning and the end. All the promises of God are yea in him and Amen in him. "For of him, and through him, and unto him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever." And this is our Saviour, who has loved us and has given himself for us. What a privilege to know him. He has given us an understanding "that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life."
Prayer
O God, help us to realize what a great and wonderful Saviour we have — the eternal Son of God, the unchangeable One, in whom all Thy promises are yea and are Amen. Help us to appropriate them to ourselves, to make them our own, to believe them. Cause us to see the riches of grace in Christ Jesus. Then make us truly humble, and help us to magnify the name of our Saviour, to whom all praise and honor is due. For his sake. Amen.
Scripture in Devotional: Ex. 3:14; 1 Cor. 15:24; 2 Cor. 1:20; Rom. 11:36; 1 John 5:20.
