And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt (Exodus 12:13).

Exodus 12:1-13:Devotional
In this meditation I am going to talk to the children. I am going to tell them about something that happened long, long ago in a faraway land. The land is Egypt. The people of God lived in this land, but they had a hard time. The Egyptians made them work very hard, and even killed their boy babies. But the people of God cried to God. He heard their cry and called a man by the name of Moses to lead them, out of the land of Egypt, and bring them into a good land "flowing with milk and honey."
But the ruler of Egypt did not want to let the people of God go, so God sent his plagues upon the Egyptians, but He spared his people. The last plague was the killing of the firstborn of the Egyptians. Before God sent his angel to kill the firstborn of the Egyptians, He told his people to kill a lamb and put the blood upon the sideposts of the door and upper doorpost, and when the angel would see the blood, he would pass by. The people of God did so, and the angel passed by their houses and their firstborn were not killed. The blood of the lamb protected them, and God brought them into the good land.
Jesus is our Passover Lamb. "The blood of Jesus Christ . . . cleanseth us from all sin."
Prayer
Our Father in heaven, we thank Thee, that through the shedding of the blood of Thy Lamb there is forgiveness of sins. We thank Thee that the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin. We praise Thy name, that Christ so loved us and washed us from our sins in his own blood, and bestows upon us his righteousness, and has made us kings and priests unto God and his Father. To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Scripture in Devotional: 1 John 1:7.
