And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of man shall be made low. and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day (Isaiah 2:17).

Isaiah 2:10-22:Devotional
How proud the natural man is! Of what? He is proud of his knowledge, wisdom, strength, riches, and the like. He even boasts of his goodness before the Lord. Nebuchadnezzar boasted: "Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honor of my majesty." The pharisee in the temple thanked God that he was not as other men. He boasted that he did not commit the sins they did, and bragged of his good works. But what does the Bible say? "Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches." All our righteousnesses are as filthy rags. And what have we, that we did not receive? And what reason do we have to boast then ? True humility is well pleasing to God. Peter writes, "Be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble." And those that walk in pride, he is able to abase. No flesh should glory in his presence. All glory belongs to God. "Let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise loving kindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord."
"Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth's sake."
Prayer
O Lord God, Thou alone art great, and greatly to be praised. All honor and glory belong unto Thee. Help us to come unto Thee in true humility. Help us to know Thee, as Thou hast revealed thyself in Thy Word. Pardon all of our sins. May we praise Thy great and holy name now and for ever. Amen.
