Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity (Titus 2:14).
Bible Reading
Titus 2:Devotional
"Thou shall call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins." Christ has redeemed his people from all their sins. He is "My faithful Saviour, who with his precious blood has fully satisfied for all my sins" (Heidelberg Catechism 1). He has made atonement for them all. He paid the price. The price was not gold and silver, but his precious blood. What a price, his precious blood! What induced him to shed his blood for us? His infinite love. "Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savor." Satan caused our first parents to sin. He rules in the hearts of all unbelievers. And "as a roaring lion, he walketh about, seeking whom he may devour." He tries to destroy even the children of God. But Christ has "redeemed me from all the power of the devil." "Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; and deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage." "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed." What a wonderful Saviour! What infinite love to a lost world! What a precious price of redemption! What glorious liberty of the children of God!
Prayer
Our Father, we thank Thee for that great deliverance from sin, Satan, death and eternal condemnation brought about by Jesus Christ, our Saviour. We thank Thee that full satisfaction has been made; that the price of redemption has been paid, and that we may rejoice in the glorious liberty of the children of God. Grant unto us, that we, being delivered out of the hand of our enemies, might serve Thee without fear, in holiness and righteousness before Thee, all the days of our life. For Jesus' sake. Amen.
Scripture in Devotional: Matt. 1:21; Eph. 5:2; 1 Pet. 5:8; Heb. 2:14, 15; John 8:36.
