Ministerial Training Institute of the OPC
Important: click here for registration materials for the spring 2008 term, which begins on February 1.
The 1998 and 1999 General Assemblies of the OPC approved the plan of the Committee on Christian Education to establish a Ministerial Training Institute of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church (MTIOPC). Classes began in September 1999.
MTIOPC is designed primarily to provide men who are preparing for the gospel ministry (men under care of presbyteries and licentiates) and current OP ministers with instruction supplemental to that which they might receive in seminary. Others (including OP ruling elders, ministers from other denominations, and men in other denominations training for the ministry) should also be able to benefit from this instruction. MTIOPC grants continuing education credits.
Dr. James H. Thomas, ruling elder at Immanuel OPC in West Allegheny, Pennsylvania with extensive experience in the area of academic administration, serves as administrator.
Arrangements are being made to enable students to receive academic credit for MTIOPC courses in selected seminaries. The administrator has compiled a database of the current men under care and licentiates in order to make them aware of MTIOPC and assess more fully their needs for further instruction.
