Founder's Day Offering

2023

On this date in 1986, the congregations of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church held a "Founder's Day Offering" to thank God for his goodness to the church over nearly 50 years. The offering was to assist in defraying the extra expenses involved in the semi-centennial celebration of the OPC to take place in June at St. Davids, Pennsylvania.

In promoting the offering, the Committee on Coordination urged members to contribute in the hope of raising $10,000. They stated, "A 50th birthday party is big stuff in anyone's life. That's especially so when you invite all your friends. You may find yourself reaching for your MasterCard more often than you planned. As you already know, the OPC is celebrating its 50th birthday this June with many activities in Philadelphia. All friends of the church have been invited. But the Semicentennial Committee doesn't have a MasterCard." The Committee ended the promotion thanking the members of the OPC for their help in making the celebration a memorable event.
