October 3 Today in OPC History

On this date in 1962, Ivan J. DeMaster was ordained to the gospel ministry and installed as pastor of Community OPC in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania. Five months earlier at the 29th General Assembly meeting at Cedar Grove, Wisconsin, the Committee on Christian Education had recommended the erection of a Committee on Radio and Television to present the witness of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church through these forms of communication. Mr. DeMaster, having grown up outside of Cedar Grove and back home for the General Assembly following his graduation from Westminster Seminary, was elected to the Committee along with Edmund Clowney, Maurice Penn, J. Paul Hunsberger and Calvin Busch.
