October 12

Albuquerque, New Mexico

Addie Alcorn prayed for the establishment of an Orthodox Presbyterian mission work in her hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico for 48 years. On this date in 1984, Addie's prayers were answered with the particularization of Covenant of Grace OPC with the Rev. Christopher Wisdom serving as the organizing pastor.

Six years earlier, the Rev. Glenn Jerrell, then pastor of Roswell OPC, had begun leading a Bible study in the home of Jeannette Mackenzie and Jennie Lind. The study grew to the point that the Committee on Home Missions and Church Extension became involved and asked Pastor Wisdom to begin worship services.

Pastor Wisdom was followed by the Rev. Timothy Bero in 1986. In 1991, the Rev. John Hunt became pastor.
