Arthur B. Spooner

2022

On December 10, 1961, the Rev. Arthur Boyce Spooner was installed as the second pastor of Trinity OPC in Hatboro, Pennsylvania. The Rev. Dr. Robert Knudsen, acting moderator of the session, presided over the Sunday afternoon service. Members of the Presbytery of Philadelphia taking part included the Rev. William Rankin and the Rev. Henry Fikkert, who gave charges to the pastor and to the congregation, respectively. A representative of the Presbytery of New Jersey (from which Spooner had transferred), the Rev. Dr. Meredith G. Kline, delivered a sermon based on Deuteronomy 30.

Born in Norwood, Massachusetts and a graduate of Westminster Theological Seminary, Spooner previously served on the OPC mission field in Korea. In 1966 he left Hatboro to accept a call from Nashua OPC in Edinburg, Pennsylvania, and he later served at Emmanuel OPC in Titusville, Florida. From 1977 until his retirement in 1982 he pastored Covenant PCA in Waynesville, NC. Pastor Spooner passed into glory on May 13, 1988.
