June 4 Today in OPC History

On Wednesday evening, June 4, 1997, the Sixty-fourth General Assembly of the OPC meeting at Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA was called to order at 8:00 p.m. by Mr. David Winslow Jr, Moderator of the Sixty-third Assembly. The Rev. Ross Graham led the opening worship service during which the Rev. Lawrence Semel, pastor of Reformation OPC, Morgantown, WV, preached from Philippians 3:1-21, "Our Citizenship in Heaven." The Rev. Charles Dennison, pastor of Grace OPC, Sewickley, PA, administered the sacrament of the Lord's Supper with assistance from Ruling Elders Robert Coie, John Deliyannides, A.M. Laurie, Lawrence McHargue, Paul Tavares and Mr. Winslow.

The next morning the Assembly elected the Rev. John Mahaffy as the Moderator.
