1961 OPC Seminarians

2023

On February 19, 1961, OPC seniors at Westminster Seminary were in the midst of their final semester of study and preparing for the future. Those who had received calls were Donald Parker to Grace Church, Trenton, N.J., and Howard Hart to Immanuel Church, Bellmawr, N.J. Richard Gaffin Jr., son of OPC missionaries Richard Sr. and Pauline Gaffin, Rollin Keller, son-in-law of OPC pastor Russell Piper, and Duncan Lowe from the OPC of Franklin Square, N.Y., were preparing to take their examinations for licensure. Those who had already been licensed were William White, Jr., a member of Calvary Church, Glenside, PA., and Norman Jones, an elder at Trinity Church, Hatboro, PA.

Parker, Keller and Gaffin would each actively serve over four decades in the OPC as ordained ministers of the Word. Hart would serve seven years as an OPC pastor before transferring to the RCUS. Lowe would be ordained and serve as a teacher in the RPCNA.
