On August 1, 1965, Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Sonora, California, held its first worship service in its new building with seventy-five people in attendance. From an unfinished pulpit, Pastor Robert Churchill preached from John 4:35, "Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest." Many members had helped move from the church's rental hall the previous day and were weary from all the physical work but when the first hymn was sung, "All Hail the Power of Jesus' Name," they were happy and praised the Lord for his goodness.
