On April 10, 1943, the Committee on Christian Education (CCE) held its first meeting with new general secretary Floyd Hamilton. For the first seven years of its existence, the Committee had not been able to afford hiring a general secretary to conduct its labors. Mr. Hamilton would serve until 1947. Six years later, the CCE called Robley Johnston as general secretary. Mr. Johnston would serve from 1953-1979. After Mr. Johnston, Roger Schmurr (1980-1988), Thomas Tyson (1989-1999), Larry Wilson (2000-2003) and Danny Olinger (2004-present) have served as CCE general secretaries.
