December 24 Today in OPC History

Born on this day in Borger, Texas, Lane Tipton attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University where he graduated in 1992 with a BA in English.The next year he married Charlene Van Abbema, the granddaughter of OPC pastor Ben Male and niece of OPC minsters Jonathan Male, Neil Lodge, and Richard Wynja. After graduating with a MDiv. at Westminster Seminary California in 1998, he received his PhD. from Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia in 2004. The same year he was appointed as a lecturer in systematic theology at Westminster Theological Seminary where he served until 2019.

In 2010 Mr. Tipton was ordained to the gospel ministry in the OPC. In 2015 he was installed as pastor of Trinity OPC, Easton, Pennsylvania, where he continues to serve faithfully.

Mr. Tipton has co-edited Revelation and Reason: New Essays in Reformed Apologetics (2007) and Resurrection and Redemption: Theology in Service of the Church, Essays in Honor of Richard B. Gaffin, Jr.(2008). He also appears monthly with OPC pastor Camden Bucey on Reformed Forum (https://reformedforum.org).
