Upon his return to the United States in 1943 following his release from imprisonment by Japanese soldiers in Manchuria, OPC missionary Bruce Hunt visited many OPC congregations. In doing so, he regularly wrote his wife Kathy about his travels. His May 10 letter opened: Dearest Kathy of mine, I find myself in a state institution again. Not for the same thing I was locked up in Manchuria for and yet indirectly that has something to do with it. Don’t grieve for me, however, as I am being well taken care of and I have prospects of leaving here soon. After the shocking opening statement, he revealed that he was staying in the guest quarters at the Nebraska Tuberculosis Sanitarium while visiting some friends. Bruce and Kathy Hunt and their family would return to the mission field in Korea after the conclusion of WWII. They would retire from active service on the mission field in 1976.
