December 4 Today in OPC History

On this date in 1981, OPC statistician Edward A. Haug reported that the total membership of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC) was 17,436 individuals in 165 churches. The number of ministers was 294, the number of ruling elders was 531 and the number of deacons was 376. The largest churches by total membership were Bethel OPC, Oostburg, WI (526), Calvary OPC, Cedar Grove, WI (519), New Life, Jenkintown, PA (502), Bethel OPC, Wheaton, IL (299), Covenant OPC, Vineland, NJ (298), First OPC, Long Beach, CA (284), Calvary OPC, Phillipsburg, NJ (271), Second Parish, Portland, ME (266), Knox OPC, Silver Spring, MD (256) and Bethany OPC, Oxford, PA (248).
