Young People's Conference at Lake Luzerne

On this date in 1971, the winter Bible conference sponsored by the Presbytery of New York and New England at the Peniel Bible Conference grounds at Lake Luzerne, New York, was in its final day. Around one hundred young people attended the three day conference to hear the Rev. Harvie Conn, OPC missionary to Korea. Mr. Conn taught on the work of the Holy Spirit as recorded in the Book of Acts. The directors of the conference, OPC pastors Wendell Rockey, Raymond Meiners and Bernard J. Stonehouse, reported that there were those listeners who evidenced a strong desire to be more faithful in their witness to Christ and wanted to know how to establish small-group Bible studies. Participants came from Pilgrim OPC, Bangor, Maine; First Presbyterian, Hamilton, Mass.; Westminster OPC, Hamden, Conn.; Memorial and Covenant OPC, Rochester, New York, and from nearby Calvary OPC, Schenectady, New York.
