At its February 22, 1956 special meeting, the Presbytery of California organized a new congregation, Covenant OPC, in San Francisco, California. The presbytery, which included thirteen churches and 1,460 members, was the third largest of the seven presbyteries in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. Ministerial members of the presbytery included pastors Glenn R. Coie (Long Beach, CA), Robert K. Morris (Garden Grove, CA), Dwight H. Poundstone (Los Angeles, CA), David Calderwood (Los Angeles, CA), James E. Moore (Santee, CA), H. Wilson Albright (Manhattan Beach, CA), Edward L. Kellogg (National City, CA), Lionel Brown (San Francisco, CA), Edwards E. Elliott (San Francisco, CA), Henry W. Coray (Sunnyvale, CA), Edward Wybenga (Bend, OR) and Carl Ahlfeldt (Portland, OR), missionaries Bruce F. Hunt and George Uomoto, and chaplain E. Lynne Wade.
