May 23 Today in OPC History

On Monday, May 23, 1988, the Reverend Jonathan B. Falk, pastor of Pilgrim OPC, Bangor, Maine, delivered the devotional at the Fifty-Fifth General Assembly meeting at Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Georgia. Mr. Falk exhorted from Romans 1:16-19 on the topic, "Doing Good."

Mr. Falk would serve as pastor of Pilgrim OPC until 1999 when he accepted a call to serve as a missionary evangelist to Uganda. In 2002, Jonathan and his wife, Margaret, began serving as missionaries in Eritrea. After the conclusion of worship on the Lord's Day of April 29, 2007, Jonathan and Margaret were imprisoned for gospel witness. After a week they were released, but Jonathan was prohibited from preaching and teaching the good news of Jesus Christ. Five days later they were ordered to leave. The Falks returned to Uganda where they served until 2011.
