On April 24, 1979, Orthodox Presbyterian ministers Richard Gaffin, Jr., Robert Strimple and D. Clair Davis were inaugurated as professors at Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In his installation as professor of New Testament, Gaffin delivered the address, “The Usefulness of the Cross.” For his installation as professor of Systematic Theology, Strimple lectured on “Philippians 2:5-11 in Recent Studies: Some Exegetical Conclusions.” Davis, installed as professor of Church History, spoke on “The Task of Church History: Answering the Threat of Historicism.”
