November 5 Today in OPC History

Timothy Bero

On November 5, 1980, the Presbytery of the Dakotas ordained and installed Mr. Timothy Bero as an associate pastor of the Abilene OPC in order to serve as a church planter at the OPC chapel in Lubbock, Texas. Worship services had begun four years earlier in Lubbock with the Rev. Glenn Black, missionary-at-large for the Presbytery of the Dakotas, leading the group.

Mr. Bero would serve at Lubbock for six years before accepting a call to Covenant of Grace in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In 1992, he returned to his hometown of Kalamazoo, Michigan as associate pastor of Community OPC. He would serve as pastor of Community OPC from 1996 until his retirement in 2014.
