January 17 Today in OPC History

On this date in 1926, the Rev. Kenneth J. Meilahn was born in Stafford, Kansas. A 1947 graduate of Wheaton College and a 1950 graduate of Westminster Theological Seminary, Mr. Meilahn was ordained in 1951 and installed as pastor of Mediator OPC in Philadelphia. In 1953, he moved to Middletown, Pennsylvania where he served as a Christian school teacher for the next thirteen years.

In 1966, he was called back to the pastoral ministry at Immanuel OPC, Bellmawr, New Jersey where he served until 1979. That year, he accepted a call to Valley OPC in Santee, California where he pastored for twenty years before his retirement in 1999.

Married to Claudine Haddix in 1952, the Meilahns were blessed with eight children and numerous grandchildren. Ken Meilahn went to be with the Lord on July 31, 2001.
