Missions Conference at Harvest OPC, Grand Rapids

On February 4, 2012, those arriving at Harvest OPC in Grand Rapids, Michigan, for the church's missions conference were handed a boarding pass, led through a screening area, and seated in an eighty-passenger plane. Flight attendant Kendra Hilton welcomed the people aboard and introduced flight captain Ken Vander Molen. After he informed everyone where the rest rooms were located on the airplane, the lights went out and on the screen was a video of an approach to the island of Haiti and landing at the Port-au-Prince airport. Greeting the passengers as they disembarked from the plane were OPC missionaries Ben and Heather Hopp. The Hopps proceeded to show the people a Haitian marketplace, where people could donate money for real Haitian items, before entering the main auditorium. In the auditorium everyone gathered to sing hymns and to hear the Hopps and David Nakhla speak about the OPC mission in Haiti. After breaking into small groups for prayer, a real Haitian meal of Creole chicken, rice, and beans was served for lunch.
