Thank Offering '86: A Golden Opportunity was in full swing in the congregations of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church on this date in 1986. Members were encouraged to support foreign missionaries Woody and Laurie Lauer who were finishing up their language study in Tokyo and were planning on making plans for missionary outreach in northern Japan. For home missions, church planters John Van Meerbeke and Bill Anderson were preparing to start new churches in North Andover, Massachusetts, and Appleton, Wisconsin, respectively. For Christian education, the goal of 25 interns was announced for the 1987 year. In order to fund these and other ministries, an average gift of $30 per communicant member was put before the church as a goal.
