September 17 Today in OPC History

Roger Gibbons

On September 17, 2004, the Rev. Roger L. Gibbons was received by the Presbytery of the Midwest to retire within its bounds. Mr. Gibbons had joined the Orthodox Presbyterian Church in 1980 to serve as pastor of Knox OPC, Oklahoma City. After twenty-one years of service as Knox Church's pastor, he served two years as an Evangelist for the Presbytery of the Southwest in the Dallas area. After Mr. Gibbon's transfer to the Presbytery of the Midwest, his retirement was short lived. For the next decade, he would serve as an Evangelist from 2004-2013 in Brainerd, Minnesota, trying to establish an OPC congregation there. On August 19, 2015, Mr. Gibbons died at the age of seventy-seven and went to be with the Lord in glory.
