On this date in 1970 the Rev. Carl E. Erickson, pastor of the then Brentwood (now New Covenant OPC in South San Francisco) was married to Kathy Albright, daughter of OPC pastor H. Wilson Albright, in the Long Beach, CA, OPC. The Lord has blessed them with three daughters (Laura, Heather, and Julianne), eleven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Carl (“Erick”) pastored New Covenant OPC for fifty years (March 31, 1967, to March 31, 2017) and many former members and friends of the congregation helped celebrate the occasion. Since his retirement, Erick has been teaching the Adult Sunday School class. He is currently teaching the biblical basis for the Canons of Dordt, using Dr. Robert Godfrey’s book Saving the Reformation .
Kathy has served New Covenant in several capacities, first and foremost as “the pastor’s wife”. At various times, she has taught Sunday School, chaired the Women’s Missionary Society, and played the piano (or organ) for worship services. She was also asked to contribute to the book Choosing the Better Portion, which spotlights women who have served the OPC in many capacities. Kathy’s contribution was the chapter on Roverta “Bobbi” Olinger.
In June, the Ericksons will celebrate two other “happy occasions.” Kathy’s 77th birthday is on June 12 and Erick’s 88th birthday on June 27. They are thankful to our Lord for the many years they have been blessed to serve Him together.
