On November 14, 1974, the Rev. Richard C. Miller was installed as the pastor of Trinity Church, Orthodox Presbyterian in Novato, California. A graduate of Millersville State College in 1962 and married to Josephine Orbanac in 1965, Mr. Miller was a lay preacher with the Evangelical United Brethren Church, which merged with the Methodist Church. While attending Westminster Seminary, he and his wife joined Calvary OPC, Glenside.
At Trinity Church in Novato, Mr. Miller found a home as the Lord would bless his labors there for the next thirty-two years. In the early 1980s, the Miller's young daughter, Sarah, was diagnosed with cancer and would undergo successful treatments for two years. Testifying to the experience of God's grace in the midst of this trial, Mr. Miller wrote in New Horizons, "We were stunned, even though we knew that this sort of thing does happen to children and there is no reason why our family should expect to ease through life without sorrow and heartache. Yet in the midst of sadness and fear, we knew that we could depend on the Lord." He continued. "With many other Christians we sang, and Sarah sang, 'Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so.' But, now the words, 'Jesus loves me, love me still, though I'm very weak and illl" have special meaning for us."
On August 12, 2020, Richard Miller died and went to be with the Lord.
