On October 16, 1903, future OPC pastor Edward Wybenga was born in Paterson, New Jersey. A Christian school teacher, Mr. Wybenga enrolled in Westminster Seminary in 1933. He graduated from Westminster in 1936 and was ordained the following January as an home missionary of the Presbytery of Philadelphia. In 1939, he accepted a call to First OPC, Waterloo, Iowa. He also served as pastor of Westminster OPC, Hamill, South Dakota and Westminster OPC, Bend, Oregon.
A regular contributor to the Presbyterian Guardian , Mr. Wybenga's series, "Meditations in Luke" first appeared in the magazine in October of 1960, In 1962, Mr. Wybenga had to retire from the pastorate due to grave iilness, but he continued the series even when hospitalized. In the week before his death on May 17, 1965, he completed his final lesson from Luke 20, a passage about the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
