Evidence That Jesus Was Not Crucified or Resurrected

Question

What evidence, other than the Koran, is there that Jesus was not crucified or resurrected as the Bible claims? Is there any other evidence from historical documents or manuscripts that Jesus was not crucified?

Answer

I’ve been asked to respond to this question which you posted to the Orthodox Presbyterian Church’s website.

You ask, “Is there any other evidence from historical documents or manuscripts that Jesus was not crucified?”

Basically, no. There are no contemporary (i.e. first-century) documents or pieces of archaeological evidence which would indicate that Jesus was not crucified. And it’s helpful to remember that the Koran was written much later than the time of Jesus’ life and death (approximately six centuries later). Accordingly, the only reason to think it a reliable witness to Jesus’ ministry is a prior belief that the Koran is a direct revelation from God. Absent that belief, its testimony holds no weight.

I hope that’s helpful to you. More, I hope and pray your faith is in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who was crucified and raised in order to save sinners such as you and me from our sins, so that we may have everlasting life with him.
