Gladys Coie

On June 3, 1905, Gladys McCornack Coie was born to Ralph and Anna McCornack near Hazen, North Dakota. On July 17, 1934, she married Glenn Coie following his graduation from Westminster Seminary and ordination as pastor of First PCUSA in Bend, Oregon. When the Orthodox Presbyterian Church was founded in 1936, Gladys and Glenn were charter members. In Glenn's OP pastorates that followed in Silver Spring, Maryland, Long Beach, California, and Hialeah, Florida, Gladys was known not only for her hospitality, but also for organizing youth Machen Leagues and Women's Missions Fellowship. After Glenn's sudden death in 1966, Gladys moved to Long Beach to be near their only child, Robert. Living in the Los Angeles area, Gladys was a member of a number of OP congregations. In 1996 at the age of 91 years old, Gladys died and went to be with the Lord in glory.
