Ralph and Joan English

On this date in 1988, members and congregations in the OPC were supporting Ralph and Joan English, missionaries to Suriname, in their "Miles for Missions" campaign. Ralph's stated goal was to walk over fifty miles in a single day in order to raise funds to help with special projects in Suriname. He asked, "Can a 52-year-old missionary walk 100 miles in 24 hours? Or even 50?" Ralph walked 53 miles and Joan 25 miles and raised over a thousand dollars for the work in Suriname.

Ralph and Joan English would serve in OPC foreign missions for twenty-seven years, first in Korea (1969-1987) and then in Suriname (1987-1996). In 2004, Ralph was installed as a teacher at Cornerstone OPC, Chattanooga, TN. In 2015 he was named Pastor Emeritus at Cornerstone Church.
