On this date in 1983, South Pasadena OPC in South Pasadena, California, an original congregation in 1936 of the Presbytery of California, closed its doors as a congregation in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. Originally named Westminster Presbyterian Church of Eagle Rock and pastored by the Rev. E. Lynne Wade, the congregation enjoyed a distinguished list of OPC pastors throughout the decades. Pastors included Russell Piper (1939-43), Bruce Hunt (1943-44), Robert Brown (1944-48), James Moore (1951-61), Michael Stingley (1962-65) and Sal Solis (1965-78). In 1982 under the ministry of Pastor David Tickner, the congregation accepted an invitation to join Calvary PCA in Glendale.
