On the Lord's Day of March 21, 1993, the congregation of Living Hope OPC in Allentown, Pennsylvania, celebrated God's work in growing their numbers to over a hundred by moving their worship services from the cafeteria to the gymnasium of the Swain School. In 1990, a handful of people had started praying in the home of regional home missionary Chip Stonehouse about planting an Orthodox Presbyterian congregation in Allentown. The mission church started in 1990 with the Rev. Tim W. Young serving as the organizing pastor. On November 20, 1994, Living Hope OPC was recognized as a particular congregation of the Presbytery of Philadelphia and Pastor Young was installed. Mr. Mark Rockey and Mr. David Hadinger were also ordained and installed as the church's first two ruling elders.
